Usually completed as design and build schemes, our designers are adept at finding the design edges required to provide best value solutions.

When required, Conder is capable of incredibly fast erection programmes. A 2,300 tonnes, 850,000 sq ft Tesco distribution centre at Lichfield with main contractor GMI completed 7 days ahead of schedule in a 6 week programme.

Car Parks

Conder has earned a particular expertise in this market sector. Conder tailors car parks to clients' needs by utilising best cost design principles, developed over a number of years.

Conder car park scope is typically Vertical Circulation Module (VCM) or split level layout, structural steelwork, precast floors and stairs and integrated crash barriers and handrails.

VCM design allows the floor slab to be flat, (sloping floor slabs are classified as flat for disabled access) however locally to the ramp the floor slab slopes to create a half height rise within the floor levels with the other half height rise being created by a single cross ramp.

Advantages of VCM are a reduced number of ramps, potentially fewer stair cores and retaining walls, thus reducing build cost.

Town Centres

Conder can claim a high level of expertise in this market sector, with in excess of 1.2 million sq ft of town centre space completed in recent years.

Expert project management is the key to success in this sector, with sites usually in confined areas and careful management of logistics critical.

Typically Conder engineers work closely with the architect and engineer, as retailers often change requirements and complex secondary steelwork required for elevations is developed later in the process.
